Cover Reveal: “Faraway Star,” my upcoming science fiction novel.
Here's the cover for my new book, out June 11!
I’m excited because the day is finally here when I can not only show you the cover of my upcoming book, Faraway Star, but also for the first time tell you where—and when—you’ll be able to get it! (At least on Amazon). Above you’ll see the front cover art for the book. Faraway Star will be released on June 11, 2026. You can preorder the Kindle version at this link here. If you plan to read the book on Kindle at any time, I urge you to preorder before the release date of June 11. The reason for that is, the more preorders there are before it comes out, the higher it will rank on Amazon’s lists when it’s available on June 11.
I’ve done several articles over the last year or so about various aspects of Faraway Star, and an index of them is at the bottom. Suffice it to say, it’s a science fiction space-opera adventure, but it’s very character-driven and focuses on antiwar and antifascist themes. The cover illustration takes inspiration from a passage in the book’s first third or so. Raljebi, the main character, has left his boring and unproductive college career to join a peace commune on a distant planet, dedicated to protesting the destructive and imperialist war that’s going on in the galaxy around him. There he connects with Queyzan, a woman from the Menkarian Empire, the power that his planet is at war with. The novel explores the ideas of peace and resistance to oppression, both themes that are topical right now in 2026.
The cover, which I love, was designed by a young artist who is known around the internet as Nayomi_Arts. The charge was to do something in the style of 1960s/1970s science fiction paperback book covers, which is a genre of art all its own, and I think she did a marvelous job. As you’ve probably heard me mention before, on occasion I’ve pitched Faraway Star as the concept of, “It’s 1967...in space!” I think she captured it in this illustration.
Faraway Star launches June 11, but it will be available on more platforms than just Amazon. I’m well aware that many people don’t want to enrich the Bald Demon (Bezos) any further, and for that reason you’ll find the book on various other platforms such as Barnes & Noble, though you won’t be able to preorder it there. Again, if you’d like to support my work, do consider preordering as it really helps.
I’ll be sharing some more about Faraway Star, and even some samples, at the paid-tier level here.
